Hiram Frank Davison MC was born in the township of Bastard in Leeds County, northeast of Kingston Ontario, son of Etta Davison.The DND History Directorate files indicate that he was initially attached to the Canadian Expeditionary Force, and transferred, in November 1917 to No. 22 Squadron Royal Flying Corps (RFC). He remained active with No. 22 Squadron until he was wounded on 13 April 1918. April was the month in which the RFC and the RNAS were merged to form the Royal Air Force. DND files indicate that before being wounded he shot down 13 enemy planes. On June 22, 1918 he was awarded the Military Cross (MC) for his bravery, skill and achievements. |
