Aaron Glustein DFC was born in Romny Russia, and made his home in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. On 3 September 1940 he enlisted in the RCAF in Moncton New Brunswick.

On 16 August 1941, Glustein graduated from No. 4 Bomber & Gunnery School and after arriving overseas was eventually posted to No. 405 Squadron, Bomber Command.

After successfully completing 50 dangerous and death defying missions over enemy occupied territory, many against heavily defended targets such as Essen, Emden, Bremen, Duisburg, Hamburg, Stettin and Kiel, Flight Lieutenant Glustein was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).
